Today it's sorrow

So, I got what I wished for, and then I didn’t want it anymore.
Or I did, but not where I found myself.
Sometimes just a little perspective is the key, and  I recently got plenty of that.  I am so relieved that I get to stay where I am, and do what I do, that I’m willing to forgive most anyone their shitty behavior, just so I can keep on  keepin on.

Take me to a place inside

Watching the movie Boyhood was an unprecedented  experience, and continues to challenge me, days after viewing.
The moments that are most striking for me, were when I would think to myself that the authenticity of the time related scenes, like video gaming, or clothing, were so realistic, and then realizing, they were real , were when I ascertained that  I was watching  science fiction.
Knowing Richard Linklater from, Slacker and one of his more recent films, Waking Life, I think this was one,of the multitude of intentions of this movie.
I’ve never seen anything like it.  There have been documentaries, and  even Russian Ark a  time bending foray with uncut shots and never-ending scenes. But,nothing  as dynamic and significant as this simple triumph in storytelling and sort of eternal perspicacity.

I'm hearing music from another time

I had forgotten about El Salvador.  Or, better said, hadn’t thought about the conflict from the late 70’s into the 80’s, that had ultimately led to US initiated and backed counterinsurgency programs, that destabilized the region, and specifically any attempts at social democracy.
And then, I happened upon an article about the murder rate in El Salvador increasing by over 50%.
El Salvador, according to the United Nations, is one of the world’s most violent countries.  And, all so  we can sit on the Internet and or TV and watch nonsense, and update our status in peace.
