You better shape up

A phone conversation between Gus and me today.
Me:
Paul Walker’s last movie was not very good.
Gus:
I’m not surprised.
Me:
RZA was in it.  It should have been better.
Gus:
Stockard Channing?
Me:
What?  RZA, from Wu-Tang
Gus:
 I thought you said Rizzo
Me:
I guess that would have been more appropriate coming from a 50 something mother.
Gus: Yeah, well.

That's just how I'll leave it

Did you ever wonder what happens when your life, as you knew it, get’s torn up, thrown asunder and messed up pretty good?
You manage it, that’s what.  You figure out how to live with it, and go from there.  Also, hopefully you have people who can help you get back on course, one’s who have been through similar experiences, and others who are just there for you to bounce shit off of.  Maybe it’s age, or becoming numb to what is mostly inevitable, pain, loss, panic and then acceptance.  We just move on, there will be plenty more to cause trouble and strife.

That's now departed

For various reasons, my mother and her sister stopped being in contact about ten years before my Aunt died in 2008.
Because of that thorny relationship, our three cousins were never close to my parents, or myself, and my two sisters,  nor us them.  The youngest, Sarah, was the only one to attend any events, as in some  of our weddings and such, in her adult years.
When my Aunt died, I contacted the oldest cousin, and let her know how sorry I was,  that her mom had been someone I truly cared for.
With that, one night last week, or actually the early morning hours, I was not able to sleep, so I thought about taking a look on the Internet for Sarah.  The last time I had checked a few years ago, she did not have a Facebook page, so I first checked there, and then went to the Internet where I found her obituary.
What I don’t want to take away from that is resentment for the other cousins, who chose not to let us know that she had died.  But, that’s my inclination.  I cannot fathom how  meaningless they must think us, to not share that information.  It just breaks my heart.

How the time goes past

I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy with Jake and Eve in an newfangled movie theater where there are recliners and beer.  Nothing like thinking you’re in your living room, or den while you watch a movie,  and ultimately discuss it, because you are so darn comfortable.
That’s all there is, comfort, ease convenience.  Everything at your fingertips.
